History of the Sèvres factory
The Manufacture nationale de Sèvres is one of the most prestigious porcelain factories in France and in the world. Founded in 1740 in Vincennes, it was transferred to Sèvres in 1756 under the impetus of Madame de Pompadour, favorite of Louis XV, who wished to compete with the German porcelains of Meissen.
