"Bronze Bust "america""
Bronze bust representing “America” – Allegorical bust of a young African, late 19th / early 20th century Very beautiful bronze bust with double patina, embodying an allegorical figure of America, in the European artistic tradition of the 19th century. The work represents a young African boy, wearing a feathered hat and a garment adorned with buttons and a decorative chain. The face, imbued with gentleness and nobility, reflects fine chiseling and remarkable realistic sensitivity. This sculpture is inspired by the literary and romantic imagination of the time, in the spirit of exotic novels such as Paul and Virginie, which popularized in Europe the idealized image of the African child, a symbol of purity, innocence and connection to nature. The bust rests on a bronze base painted in imitation of yellow Siena marble, typical of the decorative effects popular under the Second Empire and in the interiors of the Napoleon III style. Probably French or Italian work, circa 1880–1910. A rare decorative piece, combining sculptural finesse, literary reference and period exoticism. Dimensions: Height: 58 cm Width: 39 cm Depth: 23 cm Condition: Very good overall condition, beautiful original patina, intact base. Note: Notice to collectors of the Napoleon III period or interior designers: this bust is enough on its own to create an absolutely incredible atmosphere. I highly recommend it – an exceptional piece.
