Beautiful Spanish chalice from the late 19th or early 20th century, made of solid silver accompanied by its matching paten, both magnificent examples of Andalusian silversmithing tradition.

Without visible hallmarks but guaranteed to be 100% silver, this liturgical set offers the brightness, weight, and nobility characteristic of an authentic and solid piece, worthy of inclusion in any sacred art collection or for reintroduction into liturgical use.

The chalice features a large trilobed base adorned with hammered bands and fine repoussé decoration. The structure rises through a double-knob stem, bulbous and decorated with small spheres and columns, a form especially popular in Spanish silverwork of the period. The lower knob is distinguished by delicate burin engraving with religious motifs, including crosses and pointed arches evoking Gothic windows. A particularly significant detail is the presence of carved fruits beneath the cup, whose rounded shape and floral crown likely represent pomegranates, a heraldic and religious symbol deeply linked to the city of Granada. This element strongly suggests that the piece originated from this historic Andalusian city.

During the 19th century, Granada and other Andalusian regions were major centers of liturgical silver production, heirs to a tradition combining Mudéjar and Baroque influences in their ornamental language. Many pieces from this era, especially those intended for rural parishes or private commissions, were crafted without official hallmarks but maintained very high levels of craftsmanship and purity of material.

The chalice stands 22.2 cm tall, with a cup diameter of 8.5 cm and a base diameter of 15.5 cm. Its interior is richly gilded, with the gold plating in excellent condition, as is customary for pieces meant to contain the consecrated wine, protecting it from direct contact with the metal. This practice, established centuries ago, reflects both practical and profound sacramental respect.

The paten, simple yet functional, matches the sober and bright aesthetic of the chalice. With a diameter of 13.2 cm, it is also made of solid silver without visible hallmarks, but carries the same guarantee of authenticity.

Both pieces are in excellent structural condition, with no dents or losses, showing only minimal traces of liturgical use that add character and historical authenticity rather than detract from it. This set, of sober yet elegant lines, is ideal for a priest, a seminarian about to be ordained, or a parish community wishing to restore worthy pieces to Eucharistic celebrations.

Do not miss the opportunity to acquire a devotional silverwork piece with over a century of history, filled with beauty, spirituality, and tradition.
