"Italian Marble And Micromosaic Tray, 20th Century "
Superb and elegant Italian marble and micromosaic tray from the 20th century. Polylobed in shape and molded around its edge, this tray is decorated in its center with a scene representing drinking birds, the famous Capitoline doves also called Pliny's doves. The composition is reminiscent of an original Roman mosaic discovered in Hadrian's Villa in 1737. On the rest of the surface are 8 round macarons where we find scenes of Ancient architecture. High quality and fine work with very bright colors. Good general condition apart from very slight chips visible in the photos but no lack of micromosaics.
