Iranian rug from the Fars region (southwest Iran) wool, wool warp and weft, circa 1960. Very good condition. Strong and durable rug.

Beautiful Gashghai rug with bold colors and repeating diamond patterns framed by the 'oak leaf' motif. A lighter border also features the 'oak leaf' motif but also geometric patterns. Comfortable rug.

The Gashghai confederation includes different tribes. Some examples: the Kashkulis Bozorgs (the large ones), the Kashkulis Kucheks (the small ones), the Shishbolukis (six districts), the Amalehs or Yalamehs (workers, servants of the Khan).
