Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, born in 1809 in Besançon and died in 1865 in Paris (16th arrondissement), was a French polemicist, journalist, economist, philosopher, politician, and sociologist. A precursor of anarchism, he was the only revolutionary theorist of the 19th century to come from a working-class background. Introduction and notes by Roger Picard.
