The paste is thick and vigorous. Water flows between old houses. In the distance, the Alpine peaks are lost in the mist. A few ducks add a charming touch to this pretty composition.
The work is signed lower right. It was probably created by the painter in the 1930s, before his departure for Algeria.
It is in very good condition. The painting is presented in a modern molded and patinated wooden frame.
The artist
Primitif Bono was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1890. He trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1920.
From this time on, he traveled extensively to Algeria, Tunisia, Spain, and France. His style combines realistic details and geometric shapes.
Bono settled permanently in Algeria in 1939.
His Parisian studio was dispersed in 2008.
