A polychrome majolica albarello produced in the Sicilian majolica manufactory of Burgio, dating from the second half of the 17th century. It has a height of 24 cm and the typical albarello shape, characteristic of this type of pharmaceutical vase intended to contain ointments and medicines. The decoration is made in polychrome using different colours typical of majolica such as yellow, blue, green and manganese for the brown outline. The main decoration highlights the ‘lunar faces’, iconographic elements often present in the symbolism and iconography of the Burgio manufactory. The senatorial inscription ‘SPQB’ can also be seen, which appears only rarely. It has some firing defects, minor scratches and a small restoration at the base, visible in the photos. Good overall state of preservation
