Taxidermic specimen of Chiloscyllium plagiosum, also known as the white-banded bamboo shark. This rare specimen, from the Philippines, dated ca. 1980, is of great interest to collectors, natural history enthusiasts and museums.

The white-banded bamboo shark is a benthic species that moves with agility on the seabed using its fins as limbs, a peculiar adaptation among sharks. It is mainly active at night and feeds on small invertebrates and fish.
Unlike many other sharks, this species is able to survive for short periods out of the water, a characteristic that allows it to move between tide pools in search of food.
Despite fishing for the aquarium market and for local uses, Chiloscyllium plagiosum is still widespread in the waters of the Indo-Pacific and is not currently considered endangered.

Dimensions:  weight 460 gr.

Good condition, as shown in the photos, has a slightly bent but not broken fin on the left side.
