Louis-Victor Puiforcat, who transformed the simple family cutlery into a renowned goldsmith from the end of the 19th century, liked to draw his inspiration from the masterpieces of the old masters that he reissued. Thus, the design of the Royal cutlery was imagined by the goldsmith Nicolas Cornu in the 18th century.
