This beautiful painting offers us a seascape in the moonlight. We are in the harbor of a port where many fishermen are busy. The artist is very clearly inspired by Anthonie van Borssum (1629-1677) and Aernout van der Neer (1603-1677), the specialists of moonlight reflected on the calm expanse of a body of water. The artists did not forget to animate their compositions with many characters in full work because the Dutch people were proud of their success in the face of a sometimes unwelcoming nature.
