Michel Honoré Bounieu, painter and engraver, was a student of JB. Pierre in Paris. He was approved at the Royal Academy in 1767. Professor of drawing at the Royal School of Bridges and Roads (1772), he was also Curator of the prints department of the National Library. He was received at the Salon in 1769. He exhibited mythological subjects, genre scenes and intimate subjects, close to Chardin in some of his compositions, he was also influenced by Greuze as in this portrait of Young Savoyard
