Ornamental Fowl Fight, c. 1700 attributed to MARMADUKE CRADOCK (1660-1716) Large scene c. 1700 of ornamental fowl defending the hen and chicks, oil on canvas attributed to Marmaduke Cradock. A large scale garden scene of excellent quality and condition depicting the decorative birds imported during the period, as two cockerels fight over the hen and her chicks. The birds are probably of a breed similar to the giant Brahma chickens originally imported from Shanghai, accompanied by a Damascus pigeon from Istanbul. Exceptional quality and presented in a large gilt frame. Provenance: A private UK estate Dimensions: 54" x 48" framed approximately
