Fortuné CAR 1905 / 1970:
Fortuné Car was born in 1905 in Marseille and died in 1970.
Famous Provencal artist, born into a family where painting is passed down from generation to generation. In the 1930s, he took over the workshop of his uncle, a theater designer.
This vast workshop allowed him to create sets; he then turned to easel painting. He very quickly found his way in the vein of Provencal painting, with his scenes of fishermen.
His strong and colorful painting enriched with a beautiful material born from his mastery of the brush and especially the knife. His image as a painter of Provence was exported in particular to Canada where he was a member of the Royal Academy of Painting of Montreal.
