Artist: Kiyochika Kobayashi (1847-1915 )
Kobayashi Kiyochika designed many propaganda prints during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 and a decade later during the Russo-Japanese War. This print celebrates the achievements of military technology. Japanese soldiers use electric searchlights to illuminate their target, in this case Chinese troops in Pyongyang, northern Korea. Part of a triptych.

Fine impression with light soiling and creases in the upper margin.
