Georges Pacouil (1903-1997) Bernadette 1936 Oil on Canvas 73 x 50 cm Georges PACOUIL (1903-1997) was born in Paris to Catalan parents. A student at the Ecole Bernard-Palissy and especially a student of the pointillist Hippolyte PETITJEAN, his life was punctuated by medals and Honorary Awards. A neo-realist painter, he focuses on form, the structure of nature. His art is similar to that of a Segonzac or a Lapatellière. A theater decorator (1920-1934), painter and teacher since 1934, he exhibits in many salons. Member of the Salon d'Automne since 1934, Member of the major Parisian and national Salons. Has participated in major exhibitions abroad: the Balkans, San Francisco, Tunisia, Carnegie Institute of Pittsburgh. Former member of the Commission on the Professionalism of Artists and of the Committee of the Society of Independent Artists. Distinctions: Bernheim Prize, Blumental Prize, First Prize in the Paris City Watercolour Competition (1950), Louis Willaume Prize, Silver Medal of the French League of Education (1954), Vermeil Medal for Arts-Sciences-Letters (1968), Gold Medal for Youth and Sports (1969), Gold Medal of the Hauts de Seine General Council (1984).
