Jean-Baptiste Jules Trayer, born on August 20, 1824 in Paris, and died in the same city on January 1, 1909, is a French painter. Jean-Baptiste Jules Trayer is the son of the landscape painter Joseph Jean Trayer. His mother was Geneviève Françoise Barrois. He married on August 30, 1851 in Paris with Zulime Neuhaus called Maisonneuve (1832-1861). He was a student of his father and Justin Lequien at the Swiss Academy in Paris. He often depicts Breton scenes. He is a faithful observer of reality and a talented colorist. He exhibited at the Salon from 1847. He won a 3rd class medal at the Salon of 1853 and that of 1855. He also presented works at the Society of Friends of the Arts of Bordeaux from 1854 to 1875. Works in public collections In the United States Baltimore, Walters Art Museum: Mother Teaching Her Daughter to Pray, watercolor; Woman Praying in a Church, black chalk on paper. In France Carcassonne, Museum of Fine Arts: Work, oil on canvas. Quimper, Museum of Fine Arts: Rag Market in Finistère, 1886, oil on canvas; Crêpe Seller in Quimperlé, 1866, oil on canvas.
