André Antoine RAVRIO (1759-1814) Pair of candlesticks with sides and vase, model of the Château de Fontainebleau Bronze with gilded patina and brown patina Paris, circa 1808-1810 France. Empire period H. 30 cm Very beautiful pair of candlesticks called with sides and vase entirely made of gilded bronze and bronze with brown patina. They rest on a circular base decorated with water leaves and gadroons, the barrel with sides in bronze with brown patina is supported by a sphere with a richly guilloché decoration, the Binet in the shape of a Medici vase. An imperial model Our pair of candlesticks is reproduced in the work of Jean-Pierre Samauyault, and was delivered for the Château de Fontainebleau in 1808 by RAVRIO on orders from Mobilier Imperial. An identical pair was found in 1810 in the Salon of apartment no. 4 of the Princes' Wing and could have been delivered two years earlier for an apartment in the same courtyard. RAVRIO also made other deliveries of this model for the Ministers' Wing of the Palace of Fontainebleau. André Antoine RAVRIO (1759-1814) One of the most important Parisian bronze makers of the late 18th century and the First Empire. Official supplier to the Imperial Furniture Store, Ravrio participated, alongside Pierre-Philippe Thomire and Claude Galle, in the redevelopment of the main residences of the Emperor Napoleon and in the supply of numerous bronze furnishings for the great personalities of the time, notably certain Marshals of the Empire. Today, some of his creations belong to the collections of the Mobilier National in Paris and to major international public and private collections. Condition report Very good general condition. Please note some minor wear to the gilding and a small loss on a bobèche. The whole has been reviewed by our art bronzier.
