Pierre Lievre "the Fairy And The Gnome" Original Drawing Ink & Watercolor Art Nouveau Decadence
Artist: Pierre Lièvre
Pierre LIÈVRE (1882-1939) - The Fairy and the Gnome.
Very beautiful and very fine original Art Nouveau drawing, Indian ink and watercolor, dimensions: Drawing: 132 x 132 mm - margins: 142 x 143 mm, presented under a 400 x 300 mm mat.
This unsigned drawing, which is reminiscent of the style of Aubrey BEARDLSEY, was executed by Pierre Lièvre, known as a writer, translator, literary critic and bibliophile, much less as a designer.
A work by Emile Raulin was nevertheless dedicated to him on this subject. It is Pierre LIEVRE "Drawings and Watercolors", Paris, Librairie de France, 1910, in which this drawing was reproduced (see last photo, plate not provided).
