France mid-19th century Charles Octave Lévy (1820-1899)
Antique terracotta bust of the renowned sculptor and student of Toussaint: Ch. Lévy. Signed on the back. He participated in the Paris Salon from 1873 to 1898. He obtained his third medal in 1889.
The refined bust represents a woman with an elaborate hairstyle, a hat, a ribbon, a ruffled top and a medallion of the Virgin. It is possibly a representation of Marie-Antoinette.
Overall in good condition, a chip on the edge of the foot, practically invisible when standing. Normal wear but no restoration.
