Jean-Baptiste COLLET was the Architect and Inspector of the King's Buildings in the Department of the Outside of Versailles (1734-1748), controller of the King's Buildings in the department of the castles of Blois and Chambord (1748-1773) then of Vincennes (1773-1779). From 1760, he led the work for the castle of Menars for Madame de Pompadour and her brother the Marquis de Marigny.
