“ The Training Of A Ratter Dog”. 19th Century Framed Miniature.

19th century framed miniature depicting a curious scene: the training of a ratter dog. "The ratter dog is a dog intended for hunting rats and other small harmful mammals. Several breeds were thus selected for their quality in hunting and killing these rodents. At the end of the 18th century in the first half of the 19th century the invasion of the brown rat (or brown rat) in Europe saw the selection of dogs intended for its hunting, to the detriment of cats". Pretty original frame in velvet and gilded brass that can be hung or placed.
Good condition. Age wear on the velvet of the frame. 13 x 10.5 cm.
Miniature without frame: 6.5 x 5.5 cm.
