Driven Dutch gold 23K verge pocket watch with double case by Roger Dunster, Amsterdam hallmark 1730.
Roger Dunster, born about 1695 came from England and formed and worked with Chistopher Clarke in Amsterdam in 1722 under the name Clarke & Dunster. Clarke had married the daughter of Ahasuerus (II) Fromanteel in 1694 and worked under the name Fromanteel & Clarke until 1722. Possibly Roger Dunster took over the business in 1722 and from 1729 Roger Dunster continued working under his own name until his death in 1747. Roger Dunster is then considered the leading clockmaker in Amsterdam.
