Allegory of Victory, large walnut panel carved in high relief, from the last third of the 16th century.
Dimensions of the panel: approximately 41 x 60 cm
In a walnut frame from the 19th century, total dimensions: approximately 51 x 69.5 cm
Some cracks and pieces in the relief.
This relief is inspired by an engraving by the ornamentalist, architect and engraver Jacques I Androuet du Cerceau (c.1515 - 1585), of which we reproduce a detail with the photos of the panel. To see the engraving in full, follow this link to this print kept at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam:
