Charles X Table

Tea or Writing Table, Italy, first half of the 19th century, in rosewood inlaid with holly.
X-shaped legs highlighted with light fillets, joined by a stretcher with double balusters.
The apron, inlaid on the long sides with scrolls and acanthus leaves, has two drawers on the shorter sides.
The recessed top is adorned with intricate marquetry depicting Jupiter and Juno in majesty, each leaning on a lion, symbolizing strength protecting abundance and fertility.
The scene is centered around a main motif representing an Etruscan vase, with two forest spirits clinging to it, flanked by paradise birds watching butterflies.
This tableau is framed by a luxuriant décor of stylized flowers, acanthus, and scrolls, connected by ropes bearing floral pendant motifs.
Very good condition.
