Gold Aigle Broch
18-karat yellow gold (750/1000) bar brooch -
Weight 7.95 g.
The technique used for this brooch is casting.
A mold is hand-carved, then the model is sent to a casting workshop which performs a lost-wax casting
. The engraving of the piece is then entirely redrawn by hand, the fastening system is installed, and finally a patina is created to highlight the detail of the eagle's feathers.
This brooch adorned the jackets of aviators during the First World War (according to the family who sold me this bar brooch).
