Inès d'Esménard is the daughter of the academician Joseph Etienne Esménard. Probably born around 1786 in Paris, she is the sister of Nathalie Elma d'Esménard, botanical illustrator and painter.
In addition to painting, Inès Esménard also excelled in music and mastered several languages (French, English and Spanish).
Active in Paris, she exhibited at the Salons from 1814 to 1851 where she received very good reviews.
She was a student of Jean-François Colson and Jean-Pierre Franque, for oil painting, and of Jean-François Hollier for miniature.
