Beautiful bright and high-contrast work by the painter Gustave Vidal which represents the exit from the church of Notre Dame de Beauvoir in the historic center of the city of Istres in the Bouches du Rhône.
Animated by its crowd of faithful discussing on the forecourt of the church or returning home after the service, the painter offers us a beautiful testimony of an exit from mass in Provence.
The painter has perfectly transcribed the light of a summer day with its play of light on the facades of the houses and the church.

Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go and paint outdoors. He will be influenced by the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters.
His style, clean, mixes knife technique and a pictorial stylization.
He obtains many awards from his beginnings, and exhibits throughout the world.

Nb: Very slight deformation of the panel in the upper part, certainly original, without any impact on the work.

Dimensions: 65 x 49.5 cm without frame and 79 x 64 cm with its original frame in gilded wood.
