Bookends representing parrots in patinated spelter, they rest on bases in black marble with green veins. The birds have the stamp of the BRIG foundry in Paris. They date from the 1930s and were made by Gerorges Van de Voorde, a Belgian artist born in 1878 who worked mainly in Paris.
