Maravijaya Great Buddha, Shan States
Large Buddha in carved wood, dry lacquer and papier-mâché. Burma, Shan States, 17th/18th century. The flame was attached by a cord to the stature but it is probably later. This piece remained stored for more than 50 years in the CDM stocks, it was cleaned by us. With its flame H 97 CM Without: H 79 CM XL 50 CM XP 34 CM Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau. Sold with certificate of provenance. Shipped packaged, on pallet.
