Died on January 20, 1881 in Paris. painter of allegorical scenes, genre scenes, figures, portraits, watercolorist, engraver. this charming artist, who painted the young woman with as much grace and more truth than François Boucher, was the son of an Englishman, married to a Frenchwoman. He did not become a French citizen until 1886. A student of Drolling, he began as a painter of portraits and landscapes. His first works marked a powerful and strong nature guided by a great concern for realism. But it did not take long to modify its form for the graceful style which made its representation. Recalling the works of Chaplin would take us too far.
