Alfred Grévin (1827-1892) Designer, costume painter and sculptor. Employed on the Lyon railway, he joined the Journal Amusant and the Petit Journal pour Rire in 1859. His success was very great. Grévin put witty captions at the bottom of his drawings. In 1869 he founded, with Adrien Huart, the Almanac des Parisiennes. Grévin also made an interesting place among theater costume painters. In 1882, he founded the Museum of Wax Figures in Paris which bears his name. Some works were created in collaboration with the sculptor Freidrich Beer and also bear his signature.
