Old frame in wood and gilded stucco (usual wear). Frame dimensions: 38 x 47 cm. Visual dimensions of the pastel: 23 x 31 cm. Sign. Pastel on paper. The sheet is free, not glued. The photographs were taken with the glass.
Rodolphe De Saegher (Gavere, 1871 - Ghent, 1941)
Belgian painter, pastellist. Training at the Ghent Academy. An eminent representative of the luminist pictorial movement, he is one of the founders of the artistic circle "Life and Light" in which James Ensor and Emile Claus took part in particular. He notably participated in the Viennese Secession exhibition in 1901 as well as several times at the Libre Esthétique salons in Brussels. He will also be an active member of the artistic and literary circles of Brussels and Ghent in which his work will be presented several times.
