Jean-Gaston Cugnenc, né le 28 juin 1867 à Béziers où il est mort le 11 juin 1928[1], est un peintre et illustrateur français.
Curator of the Béziers Museum of Fine Arts from 1922 to 1928, Jean-Gaston Cugnenc exhibited the paintings Bethsabée and Lolette at the Salon of French Artists in 1927 and in 1928 the paintings Soucis and Madame. The Béziers museum (Hôtel Fabrégat) devoted a special exhibition to him. exhibition in 2011-2012. A dead end in Béziers bears his name. He is buried in the Béziers cemetery

Frédéric Mistral (or Frederi Mistral in Provençal) is a French writer and lexicographer who spoke in Provençal Occitan. He was born on September 8, 1830 in Maillane (Bouches-du-Rhône) and died on March 25, 1914 in the same town. Mistral is a founding member of Félibrige, member of the Academy of Marseille, master of games at the Academy of Floral Games of Toulouse, knight of the Legion of Honor in 1863 and, in 1904, Nobel Prize in Literature for his work Mirèio, still taught today. This is one of the rare Nobel Prize winners for literature in a language not officially recognized by the State to which it belongs administratively (with Isaac Bashevis Singer). The writer of “Provençal or Oc language” – a name then used in the 19th century – is a figure of Provençal language and literature and many tributes are paid to him in Provence and in all Occitan-speaking territories, until now.
