"Reliquary Of Saint-donat Martyr, 18th Century, Sterling Silver, Southern Netherlands "

Extremely rare reliquary of Saint-Donatus Martyr in solid silver, partly gilded with a base dating from around 1630-1650. The medallion containing the relic probably dates from a later period (1730-1750). Both parts are made of solid silver. The vermeil foot bears zigzag traces of silver being taken by an assayer (a striche). Several saints bearing the name Donatus are celebrated by the Catholic Church.
