Émile Louis Thivier "Le billet Doux" oil on canvas signed lower right stamp of the 1922 sale on the back format with the frame 63cm x 55cm...Émile Louis Thivier, born in Paris on October 5, 1858 and died in Luçay-le -Male, at the Château des Cognées, June 22, 1922 is a French painter and draftsman. Student of Lehmann, Laugée, and Dagnan-Bouveret, he also took courses at the Académie Julian. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. from 1880 to his death in 1922. First married in 1880 to Claire-Émilie Hulot (1860-1900), he married his second wife, in 1901, Marie-Geneviève Paing (1878-1975), native of Caen, also a painter Part of the workshop funds of Émile Thivier and Marie Paing was donated by his daughter Françoise Thivier (1905-2003) to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Indre, in Châteauroux.
