"The Indocile Goat By Louis Marius Garcin 1821-1898"
Superb oil on canvas measuring 63cm x 100cm plus period quality frame 88cm x 125cm Signed lower left Louis GARCIN Louis Marius GARCIN Born in 1821 in Hyères, died in the same city in 1898 He left his hometown to study in Paris in the studio of Michel Drolling, before joining that of Ary Scheffer. The teaching of these two masters profoundly marked his way of painting, oscillating between perfect conformism and a certain romanticism. A trip to Italy consolidated his pictorial practice. From 1848 to 1864, he sent landscapes of his native city and views of Italy animated with numerous landscapes to the Paris Salon. Close to Vincent Courdouan, he offered him his portrait in 1855, now kept at the Toulon Museum. He will donate a set of fourteen drawings and paintings to the Hyères Museum. The painting that I am offering for sale was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1859 then in Lyon in 1890. The finesse and quality of execution are remarkable. It is becoming rare to find a painting from this period in perfect condition with its frame. Send free for the European Union 500 euros for International
