Large Portrait Of A Saint Signed, 19th Century flag

Object description :

"Large Portrait Of A Saint Signed, 19th Century "
Portrait Of A Philosopher Or Saint, 19th Century.

Important portrait of a man in darkness with an illuminated face, looking up to the sky, perhaps a philosopher or a saint!

our portrait dates from the 19th century and has a difficult-to-decipher signature at the bottom left with a date.
the portrait is very well treated, imbued with emotion and spirituality, this man seems to receive an illumination.

This is an oil on canvas in good condition, re-canvased in the 20th century.

the frame is carved in polychrome and gilded wood with radiant decoration and decorated with angels' heads, at the top, bottom and on the sides.

the sculptures are very naive and reminiscent of certain Spanish Renaissance settings.
This is a beautiful decorative frame made entirely of carved, gilded and polychrome wood, a work from the 19th century.

the canvas and frame together form a striking and extremely decorative decor.

dimensions:
47 cm for the canvas and 76 cm with the frame. height 57 cm for the canvas and 93 cm with the frame.
