RUSSIA - 19th century. Orthodox icon / cross in cast, chiseled and enameled bronze. In the center the dead Christ on the cross framed by the spear which pierced his side and the sponge with which he was given to drink, behind him the city of Jerusalem, at his feet the skull of Adam on Mount Golgotha , it is framed by the sun and the moon and crowned by two angels in adoration and the veil of Saint Veronica. On the left part the Virgin accompanied by Cleophas, on the right part the apostle John and the centurion Longinus. The reverse finely engraved decorated with garlands and foliage scrolls.
