Object description :

"Vase Paul Nicolas d'Argental, Student Of Emile Gallé"
Superb ovoid vase in purple-lined glass decorated with wheel-cleared oak leaves. Wheel engraving is a cold glass decorating technique which makes it possible to make a line of execution more precise than acid engraving. Therefore, this technique is used to engrave the highest quality pieces. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for the two cold engraving techniques to be used successively in the making of the same piece. Paul Nicolas (1875-1952) was an exceptional Master Glassmaker who left his mark on the Nancy School. After working with Emile Gallé, he created his workshop in 1919 which was located in his house, at 64 rue de la République in Nancy. At the height of its success, it had up to 12 decorators, some of whom came from Etablissements Gallé. Height of the vase: 26 cm Art Nouveau period Signed on the Argental body with the cross of Lorraine Very good condition!
