A stunning late 18th century, George III period solid mahogany architect's desk. Finished in the round, the top slants up for reading, or cantilevers up for either reading or writing while standing up. The top drawer opens to reveal a leather topped writing slide with six labeled inlaid correspondence compartments with two secret compartments. All standing on two pedestals with oak lined graduated drawers, curved plinth base with brass castors. Original Bramah locks and turned brass knob handles. England circa 1790. Not stamped but very much in the manner of Gillows of London. Amazing color and patina to the solid Cuban mahogany.
