Pair Of Parrots In Polychrome Wood Venice 18th Century

Pair of polychrome carved wooden parrots from the 18th century. Probable origin Venice. Total height 65 cm and 65.5 cm. The parrots alone measure approximately 35 cm high. Carved and patinated wooden body, same techniques as for old mirrors with application of a stuccoed primer coating. The pigments have reacted superbly over time, the colors are warm and nuanced. Condition: Wear and small losses on the polychromy of the birds. The legs are of a different model but also from the period: missing stucco, attempts to restore the stucco on one, a few wormholes.
