"Cold Woman By Marino Otero Otéro"
Rare small oil on canvas by the hand of Mariano Otero. This old work (1980) by the artist evokes with chromatic economy and powerful modeling a woman wrapped in a fur coat. Titled with humor “chilly woman”. Signed lower right and countersigned on the back. MARIANO OTERO 1942-2019 Mariano Otero is a child of Spain and especially of Madrid where he was born in 1942. He who was barely a teenager writing to his father his desire to be a painter will study at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes. A painter, he would certainly have been one through and through. His work is a chronicle of faces and bodies to which he lends his palette of oils, drawings, inks, gouaches, watercolors and pastels. All his paintings are marked by a delicate tenderness, even for the darkest ones. The nudes, the portraits, the bathers, the tangos and the still lifes have this stripped-down beauty which brings us to the essential, shape, relief, light, in slate tones, blues, grays, bright reds, all these terracotta color charts and dark brown copper. In 2023 the LA COHUE museum in Vannes pays homage to the artist
