Large Epergne In English Sterling Silver
Large epergne in solid English silver Made by one of the great London goldsmiths of the 19th century STEPHEN, SMITH always creating objects of great finesse. Circa: 1853. The base is flanked by three magnificent winged seahorses. made like real sculptures, they can also be unscrewed from the base. The light arms are also made with great finesse, ram's head finish. The arms are also detachable. The central part is topped with a cut crystal cup. The cup is held by a silver lozenge with a threaded stem. There are some chips on the cut.
