CHINA 1930, Four-leaf lacquer screen carved in slight hollow on a background of leaf gilding, and enhanced with polychromes. Decorated on one side with scenes of lake gardens and palaces animated by dignitaries on a golden background. On the other, flowered foliage of peonies animated by birds on a black lacquer background. Ideal above a sofa or a bed. Reinforced feet, protected by brass strapping. Provenance: senior French official in Indochina in the 1930s. Measurements: Height 122 cms Length 28 cms each panel is 112 cms. Good used condition.
