Exceptional marble sculpture representing the toilet of Venus by Luca MADRASSI. 2 little putti help the goddess get ready. The toilet of Venus inspired several artists such as the master of the Rococo style, François Boucher, who executed his famous oil on canvas produced in 1751: Venus seated naked on a sumptuous Rococo sofa, in a sumptuous interior whose hangings reveal in the background the foliage of a garden. Three little putti accompany the goddess and help her get ready, one arranging her hair, the other passing her a ribbon and, below, the third lifting pearl necklaces from a silver dish. Our sculpture made in one of the most prestigious materials, statuary white Carrara marble, is an old edition dating from 1890. Dimensions: height 83 cm diameter 36 cm Material: Carrara marble Origin: France Condition of the object: perfect condition Signatures : MADRASSI PARIS Biography Luca Madrassi (1848-1919) Luca Madrassi is a French sculptor of Italian origin (1848-1919). He began his artistic studies in Rome before studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was a student of Pierre-Jules Cavelier. He then joined the studio of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse. Between 1876 and 1880 Madrassi was the practitioner of Gustave Doré, this collaboration can explain the analogies between the works of Carrier-Belleuse and Doré. Luca Madrassi exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes français in Paris from 1879. There, for his often allegorical subjects, he obtained honorable mentions on several occasions (1881, 1882, 1883 and 1885) as well as a third class medal in 1896. He obtained French nationality and became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1890. He also exhibited at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1896.
