Paul Jacquet
Paul Jacquet became a teacher like his father, while preparing to become a professor of drawing.
A ceramics enthusiast, he set up a workshop in Savoie around 1913. A member of the Société des Beaux-Arts de Savoie and then the Société des Artistes Décorateurs, he exhibited widely. He worked with the PRIMAVERA studios between 1920 and 1925. At the same time, two other Parisian "decorators" called on him, René HERBST (1891-1982) and Francis JOURDAIN (1876-1958).
At the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the ceramist presented simple pieces with white backgrounds, punctuated with stylised geometric or floral designs in keeping with the modernist spirit of the time, and was awarded the Gold Medal. His success led to numerous commissions and prestigious visits to his studio, including from the Governor of Mauritius, the Vuitton family and the Besnards.
