Japanese merchant's chest (choba-dansu) in Keyaki. Several drawers and sliding doors. purse-shaped locks. The top lock decorated with a Ka-Mon with a butterfly. Choba-dansu chests were used by merchants on the choba (raised platform of a store) to store daifukucho (account books) and related trading materials. Good condition. Restored by our workshop. Mid-19th century.
