"Léon Jouhaud (1874-1950) "limousin Landscape, Eymoutiers? 1929" Limoges, School Of Crozant, "
Very pretty watercolor by Léon Jouhaud (same provenance as the works of Bichet and Jouhaud previously put up for sale) representing a Limousin landscape with rocks, probably around Eymoutiers, signed and dated lower right LJ September 1929 + authenticated on the back by the branch of the painter's family in Fontenay aux roses, in 1970. Format of the unframed sheet 25x31.5cm It is therefore a new work by Léon Jouhaud, this time a watercolor representing a Limousin landscape with rocks in September 1929, he It is not an enamel study as is often the case with Jouhaud, but rather a watercolor in its own right that the painter painted in 1929, most probably in the area around Eymoutiers where he visited very often; he uses an impressionist technique with a very subtle palette dominated by purples, browns, greens, oranges etc... I no longer present Léon Jouhaud, the clients who follow me know my attachment to this famous Limousin painter, also writer, ceramist and enamel, therefore son-in-law and student of Charles Bichet, having also rubbed shoulders with numerous painters from the Crozant school, such as Guillaumin, Detroy, Alluaud or Paul Thomas, another great friend of the painter, he will even take care of having the works repatriated of the latter when he died in Marseille in 1910. He exhibited at Rouard in Paris, or at Dalpayrat in Limoges etc... There are several works on his work. Its coast is international thanks to its enamels which can reach or even exceed €10,000 in sales. This watercolor is in good condition for its almost 100 years, some slight pitting of oxidation but above all visible in transparency so once framed these will be very attenuated, because for the moment I am offering this work without frame Work guaranteed authentic and authenticated by rightholders
