Waiting or the widow and the orphan, delicious oil on canvas representing a mother and her daughter leaning against a stone ordeal. Facing the sea, they wait for their loved one. At their side, sitting quietly, their dog, symbol of loyalty. Very beautiful colors. Signed in red lower left “Thérèse” and marked “after a watercolor by Delacroix”. Circa 1850. Original gilded wood frame. The painting has never been deframed. Dimensions: 35 cm x 27 cm painting 47 cm x 40 cm with its frame Very good condition. The varnish has yellowed a little in places and slight dirt from time visible in the photos which bring charm and authenticity to the painting. A delicious genre scene!
